One 4′ x 8′ sheet gave me two beautiful, long shelves. I used 1 by lumber to attach to the wall for the plywood to rest on and then used another 1 by board on the face of the shelf which hides the plywood edge but more importantly it adds the needed stability over a longer spanse of shelf. No worries about them crashing down in the middle of the night.
